How I Cured My Tinnitus
Many drugs have been studied to treat tinnitus. In some cases, treatment with low-dose antianxiety medications such as Valium or antidepressants such as Elavil can help reduce tinnitus. For some people, inserting a steroid into the middle ear along with an antianxiety drug called alprazolam is effective. Some small studies show that a hormone called misoprostol may be helpful in some cases.
Lidocaine, a drug used to treat certain types of heart rhythm problems, has been shown to relieve tinnitus in some people. However, it should be administered intravenously or into the middle ear to be effective. However, the benefits of lidocaine almost always outweigh the drug’s risks. Therefore, it is not recommended for tinnitus.
